Roseate Spoonbills have started nesting at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. While these amazing pink birds have been roosting in the area since 2000, they have only started nesting at the park in the last few years. There are currently nine nests and nine chicks on the property.
Spoonbills are bright pink in color and are often mistaken for flamingos. they are usually found in South Florida (from Tampa to the Keys) but can range futher north as they forage for food. They use their large, spoon shaped bill to find fish and other food in shallow coastal waters.
