The spectacular fringed orchid can grow to three feet in height (1m) and blooms between July and August. The flower spike is a cluster of bright yellow or orange flowers that have a deeply fringed lip; hence the name.
Fringed orchids grow in wet pine flatwoods, marshes, and wet roadside ditches.
This native orchid is a protected plant and may not be collected.
