Coral ardisia is a small evergreen shrub with dark glossy green leaves and attractive bright red berries. Native to Japan and northern India this plant is often used as an ornamental.

Coral ardisia has become naturalized in many hardwood hammocks across Florida and has become a pest because the red berries are thought to be toxic to pets, livestock and humans.
