Spotted Seatrout are a favorite sport fish for inshore and near shore anglers in Florida. The overall color of this silvery trout can be darker or lighter depending on where they are caught but they are usually found near sea grass beds. Seatrout prefer cooler water temperatures and will often move to deeper waters when the weather heats up.

In most areas, live shrimp are the best choice if you want to hook a spotted seatrout but you can also use small pinfish to catch the bigger trout. Seatrout tend to be found in groups of the same size so if you keep catching small fish… move on!

Trout hit strongly but be careful not to set the hook too hard because they have soft mouths that tear easily. This fish has a light delicious meat and is a favorite for commercial and recreational anglers alike.
