Pinfish are one of the most common fish caught in Florida. They can be found over sea grass beds, near pilings or bridges, or on artificial reefs in bays or offshore in the Gulf. They are a favorite food for the bottlenose dolphin are they are also a popular bait fish for snook and trout.
These fish are usually less than 8 inches long but they can reach up to three pounds. Pinfish are rarely kept to eat but they are a great fish for young anglers because they are so easy to catch.
