The rough green snake is very common throughout Florida but extremely difficult to see. This small arboreal snake’s pale green, pencil-slim body is so well camouflaged that even when you are looking directly at it, it is almost impossible to see among the leaves.
Green tree snakes are non-aggressive and rarely bite. When confronted by a predator they simply move a short distance and freeze. Rough green snakes spend most of their time in trees and bushes hunting for insects.
